The CLOCS-A National Draft Standard Is Open For Consultation

The CLOCS-A National Draft Standard was a key output from the CLOCS-A National Consolidation Workshop, which was held on November 17, 2022. The CLOCS-A National Draft Standard has been compiled based on the inputs from each of the Technical Groups.

Consultation on the CLOCS-A National Draft Standard is currently open and closes January 9, 2023.

Comments can be made to both:

All feedback on the Draft Standard will be logged, and then documented as to how it has been addressed. A final workshop will be held on 22 March 2023 to finalise elements of CLOCS-A.

Overview – CLOCS-A National Draft Standard

The primary aims of the CLOCS-A Standard is to help protect the public from harm and to improve the quality of construction logistics planning. It seeks to do so by:

a) establishing a set of minimum standards for heavy vehicles

b) establishing minimum heavy vehicle driver education and training standards

c) establishing higher standards for haulage route assessment and logistics, and

d) improving communication and levels of understanding around heavy vehicle safety with the public

CLOCS-A provides a quality assurance mechanism that tests whether relevant systems are in place to ensure that expected standards of safety management are met.

The mission of CLOCS-A is simple – to ensure the safest, leanest, and greenest construction vehicle journeys

The primary goals of CLOCS-A are:

  • Zero incidents and collisions between construction vehicles and the community
  • Increased productivity and efficiency
  • Fewer heavy vehicle journeys
  • Better planning of construction logistics
  • Improved air quality and reduced emissions
  • Reduced reputational risk
