The 30th Municipal Works and Engineering conference was held in Bendigo in late March. Over 720 delegates filled the Prince of Wales Exhibition Centre. Some three dozen suppliers filled the exhibition centre. Komatsu was the lead conference sponsor. It may not be well known but local government is especially reliant on large numbers of construction and engineering suppliers. These contractors are responsible for proving services for road construction and maintenance, drain upgrading, wastewater infrastructure, surface stabilization, site clearing and many more local government and council technical and construction services. The conference organizers are to be congratulated.
CILTA Melbourne’s CLOCs-A team attended and networked the two-day event increasing CLOCS-A awareness now at the municipal level. This followed a meeting with the Transport desk of the Australian Local Government Association in Canberra in the previous month.
